Human Rights Day is held on December 10th, the anniversary of the United Nations General Assembly's adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948. --Education for Justice
Torture The UN Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment refers to: “an act by which severe pain or suffering, whether physical or mental, is intentionally inflicted on a person”, for a purpose such as obtaining information or a confession, punishment, intimidation or coercion, “or for any reason based on discrimination of any kind”. --Education for Justice Women Rights Women will increasingly play a part in the solution of the serious problems of the future: leisure time, the quality of life, migration, social services, euthanasia, drugs, health care, the ecology, etc. In all these areas a greater presence of women in society will prove most valuable...” --Letter of Pope John Paul II to Women, 1995, #1, 3

Lord God, Make us peacemakers, lovers of life and of all people who stand up for rights that are compromised. Show us how to see violations against others just as we would see violations against our own selves. Teach us how to stand up and be lights for the world.
