Current Opportunities

Team Lead, LVN, RN

Within the framework of the Operational Philosophy and Goals of the Special Care Unit, organizes the activities of the Nursing Team for the shift in such a manner as to achieve competent and safe nursing care while respecting the uniqueness of each resident.  The Team Leader is responsible for the performance of the nursing care team for the shift.

Essential Functions:

  • Works with the Administrator & RN Supervisor to ensure that the Mission and Values of the CSJ Sisters and St. Joseph Center are implemented into the care that is provided to all patients (residents) at Regina Residence.

  • Is knowledgeable about the health status & care needs of each patient and addresses these needs based on the person-centered care philosophy.

  • Administers medication and treatments in a safe and timely manner.

  • Implements physician’s orders for each patient with accuracy, thoroughness and understanding and in accordance with pharmacy policy.

  • Responds professionally, swiftly, and appropriately in the event of an emergency (i.e. medical emergency, fire, earthquake).

  • Documents summary of patient’s condition as needed and on a regular basis in patient’s chart.

  • Communicates changes of condition to the appropriate individual(s) (i.e. RN Supervisor, POA, next of kin).

  • Organizes, coordinates, and supervises the nursing care team (CNA’s) to provide quality nursing care and ensures that call lights are answered in a timely manner (<5 minutes

Program Coordinator

The Program Coordinator works with Director and staff to plan and coordinate events such as annual conferences/symposiums, workshops, presentations, film screenings and/or gatherings. These events engage the Congregation and community at large to provide educational resources and opportunities for involvement.

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborates with staff and with Communications Department to promote events and assist in designing flyers and handouts

  • Assists in the implementation of prayer services

  • Provides administrative and programmatic support for the Justice Center

  • Works with Director to develop and implement events, programs, workshops, etc.

  • Works with Director to employ events that advance the mission of the office

  • Collaborates with other offices to advance social justice issues on campus

  • Works with staff to identify and develop opportunities for engagement with congregational members.

  • Assist to coordinate/promote awareness of key issues at St. Joseph Center and with outsidepartners.

  • Identifies and develops relationships with external groups and ministries in order to promote

  • awareness on social justice issues with include but are not limited to human trafficking,

  • environmental justice, immigration, etc.

  • Attends meetings and takes clear and concise minutes

  • Prepares events that include theological refection and social analysis through Catholic​​Social Teaching

  • Attends monthly working group meetings, maintains database, and update minutes

  • Flexible schedule for occasional evening and weekend meetings and events.

  • Coordinates events as needed by contacting speakers, facilitators, registration, and otherlogistics that follow.

Position Qualifications: 

  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills as well as interpersonal and analytical skills necessary to support position requirements.

  • Has ability to keep up with current events at national and global level

  • Demonstrates intermediate to advance skills in using computer and various systems: Skype,

  • Zoom, Adobe Reader, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, access, Outlook and

  • social media platforms.

  • Able to create and contribute to justice centered prayer services

  • Takes initiative in program planning and implementation

Legislative Advocate

The Legislative Advocate works with Director and staff to analyze and coordinate the advocacy strategy on crucial legislation impacting priority justice issues.

Essential Functions:

  • Identify, develop, and maintain effective relationships with federal, state, and local legislative staff and legislators (Representatives, Senators, County Supervisors, City Council, etc.)

  • Identify and develop relationships with Sisters, external groups, and constituents in key districts.

  • Maintain current legislative roster; organize and facilitate meetings to prepare for lobby visits.

  • Research, analyze, and develop legislation priorities impacting our work

  • Develop outreach tools on our legislative priorities

  • Work with Director to develop and implement legislative plans and actions

  • Create social media, Constant Contact and email action alerts and other events as needed

  • through various platforms

  • Coordinate with Director to ensure consistency, accuracy, and quality

  • Communicate legislative information to Director

  • Knowledge of current justice issues

  • Prepare/present summarized advocacy reports for committees

  • Research, prepare, and inform/present on ballot initiatives during elections

  • Provide testimony at local city meetings on CSJ's positions when necessary

  • Other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications: 

  • Minimum two years experience in legislative advocacy

  • Familiarity with bill tracking systems/websites

  • Knowledge and or experience in writing letters to the editor (LTE) on key justice issues and connecting/building relationships with local newspapers

  • Has the ability to keep up with current events at a national and global level

  • Ability to grasp issues quickly and communicate their importance articulately, accurately,

  • and persuasively when lobbying

  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills as well as interpersonal andanalytical skills

  • Ability to handle multiple assignments with minimal supervision

  • Knowledge of current international, national, and local issues preferred

  • Takes the initiative in planning and implementation

  • Demonstrates leadership and the ability to empower and collaborate with others

  • Has experience working in a not-for-profit organization

Dishwasher

The Utility Worker is responsible for maintaining kitchen work areas, equipment, and

utensils. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange may identify other responsibilities of the position. These responsibilities may differ depending on business necessities and resident requirements.

General Responsibilities:

  • Retrieves breakfast, lunch and dinner dishes (shift dependent) from Regina main dining room.

  • Disposes of excess food on dish and cookware into compost bin and places in commercial pot soaker or dishwasher or washes by hand according to sanitation and cleaning procedures.

  • Set up dish station according to department guidelines and standards.

  • Inspect and test sanitizer for proper temperature or chemical mix and properly set up dish machine.

  • Log dishwasher temperatures daily.

  • Place dish and cookware back in storage areas.

  • Sweeps and mops kitchen floors.

  • Keep dish room clean including washing worktables, walls, refrigerators, and other equipment as needed using specific chemicals to ensure sanitary standards.

  • Segregate and remove trash and compost placing it in designated containers outside kitchen.

  • Take tilt bin trash to hospital compactor – badge required.

  • Cleans garbage cans, compost bins, and floor mats.

  • Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas.

  • Fill salad bar area with ice at Regina Residence, and Motherhouse as needed. (AM/PM Shifts)

  • Sets up banquet tables, assists with catering set-ups and pick-ups.

  • Delivers and pickup of food and supplies to and from dining areas.

  • Assists with unloading delivery of both supplies and food.

  • Transfers supplies and equipment within and between storage and work areas such as pantry and dishroom.  

  • Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner. 

  • Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures. 

  • Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments. 

  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or over.

  • Ability to operate dishwashing machinery.

  • Basic interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage others verbally.

  • Willingness to be open to learning and growing.

  • Maturity of judgment and behavior.

  • Maintains high standards for work area cleanliness.

  • Maintains high standards for physical appearance including fingernail length and cleanliness.

  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and some holidays.

  • Attends work and shows up for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity.

  • Jewelry on hands and arms must be removed during shift work.

EVS Housekeeper

This position reports to the EVS supervisor. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below but Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange may identify other responsibilities of the position.

General Responsibilities

  • Perform miscellaneous cleaning tasks daily as directed by supervisor.

  • Participate in general cleaning project at Regina Residence and other campus locations as

  • directed by supervisor.

  • Participate in other campus general cleaning projects.

  • Perform specialized upholstery cleaning as directed by supervisor.

  • Clean EVS cart and resupply daily.

  • Keep storage closets organized and notify supervisor of any supply needs.

  • Manage trash disposal in accordance with campus environmental standards for regular

  • trash, recycle and compost materials.

  • Complete any payroll edits or Requests for Time Off and submit to EVS supervisor in a

  • timely manner.

  • Attend department staff, safety, and in-service meetings.

  • Keep supervisor informed of supply needs.

  • Report any maintenance and safety issues to Operations.

Marketing and Development Coordinator

The Coordinator’s primary responsibility is in marketing and development strategies to promote a positive public image among CSJ Educational Network’s various audiences and advance the ministry’s efforts to raise awareness and resources. This position will also collaborate with others in the organization to achieve brand consistency, coordination of messages, and the highest standards for external communications. This position is responsible for coordinating organization-wide design, message, and content generation, including electronic and print communications.

Essential Functions

  • Collaboratively manage and coordinate communications for internal and external stakeholders; including creation and update of content; writing, editing, and soliciting content and accompanying images for printed and electronic media

  • Provide organization-wide e-communications support to remain up-to-date and effective in electronic, coordinating web-based communications and pioneering ministry’s social media participation

  • Implement a marketing and communication action plan; maintaining organizational communications calendar and providing administrative support as needed.

  • Collaboratively manage and design, in coordination with the Director, internal and external videography/photography projects and content taping for external broadcasting to the Network’s affiliated-schools and client organizations.

  • Performs other duties as assigned
