About the event

This session explores the intersection of spiritual direction and diversity, equipping participants with the skills to foster inclusive and culturally sensitive practices in their spiritual guidance. It explores how diverse cultural, racial, and socio-economic backgrounds impact spiritual experiences and practices and how spiritual directors can adapt their approaches to support a variety of perspectives.

·       Learn strategies for adapting spiritual direction to honor and integrate the diverse backgrounds and experiences of those you guide.

·       Develop skills to engage respectfully and empathetically with spiritual seekers from various cultural contexts, avoiding biases and assumptions.

 

About the Presenter:

Michael Donaldson is the Senior Director for the Office of Life, Justice, and Peace for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. He served in the Diocese of San Bernardino as the Parish Development Director for St. Oscar Romero Church in Eastvale, CA. He also served as the Director of Pastoral Care for Families in All Stages for the Diocese of Orange from 2015-2017. Michael finds his passion in seeking resources to assist those searching for support and accompaniment. Michael obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Spanish from Cal State University Fullerton and completed his Master of Theological Studies at the University of Dallas.
