About the event

“May the eyes of your hearts be enlightened.”

Ephesians 1:18

“You were within me, and I was outside, and it was there I searched for you…On entering into myself I saw, as it were with the eyes of my soul, what was beyond the eyes of the soul, beyond my spirit: your immutable light.

St. Augustine

God loves to surprise us! To astonish us! Do you desire to enter more fully into your life, tending moments throughout each day by noticing what God is revealing to you moment by moment. Join us for a photography retreat, where photography becomes a means of grace to deepen your spirituality, to see more clearly, and grow in your ability to integrate your contemplative practice and your creative expression. The art of photography both awakens your vision and invites you into worship of God. Photography becomes a contemplative prayer practice, as you receive images, seeing with the “eyes of the heart.”

Join us for this photography retreat where we will receive images in the gardens, share our images with each other, and delve into writing in response to our images. As we explore light and shadow, the symbolic significance of color, photography as a sacred text inviting us into Visio Divina with our world, grow a deeper awareness of what is hidden and revealed as we explore perspective, lines, shapes, forms, textures and patterns, and learn to see the Holy everywhere. Truly, our world is ripe with images that can enlighten our hearts!

Please be sure to bring your cellphone or a digital camera for picture taking, so you can share your photos with others in the retreat.
